Tomorrow is Octoberrr. Can you taste it? Does it taste like warm apple cider? Or pumpkin spice? Or warm chili on the stove? Ahhh. Fall is delicious. And so is the clean slate of a new month.
With that, as always, we’re welcoming a new theme:
Writing with the rhythm of the moon.
(This idea sparked on our amazing DBP call Saturday. Thank you, Jamie!)
For centuries, us women have noticed how our bodies, moods, and even our creativity move in cycles — rising, peaking, softening, renewing — much like the moon itself.
So, starting next week, we’ll dig into prompts that follow the phases of that celestial beauty — from “planting seeds” with the new moon (which is on Oct. 7), to pushing through resistance, to celebrating what’s been illuminated, and finally, to letting go and resting.
I know many of us have different beliefs and practices when it comes to spirituality, astrology, and anything “woo woo,” but there’s no denying that the moon exists and it moves in cycles, so the basis of this will be to simply let it inspire this month’s themes. Then, your writing and heart will take it from there.
To get us ready, we’re easing into it with something simple this week: reflecting on our own connection to the moon. Maybe you’ve always felt attuned to it. Maybe you’ve barely thought about it. Either way, this is about noticing its role in your own life before we begin following its rhythm together.
But first:
This Month’s Winner is…

✒️ Me & the Moon✒️
Reflect on your personal connection to the moon
Some of us notice the moon often, some of us barely at all. For some, it’s a spiritual symbol. For others, it’s just something pretty in the night sky. Wherever you land, your perspective is welcome.
Step 1: Grab your comp or some paper.
Step 2: Set a timer for 5–10 minutes.
Step 3: Write into one (or more) of these:
Do you notice the moon in your everyday life? When?
Is there a memory or story you associate with the moon?
What feelings, images, or words come to mind when you look up at it?
If the moon had something to say to you, what do you imagine it would be?
Step 4: Share in the Facebook group.
Option 2: Take your own adventure
As always, if something else is tugging at you, lean into THAT.
Have fun, good luck, and holler if you get stuck,
Brit
