✒️ Jan Prompt 1: The Story of Your Name
From meanings and origins to nicknames and facts, share any story behind your name
Oh, my goodness! It’s tiiiiime.
The big brass doors of The DBP Society are OPEN and ready for your writing. Your golden pen is waiting. That blank page is salivating. It’s time to start storytelling.
Now, remember — this month is all about easing in, getting into motion, and getting acquainted. Every Tuesday, I’ll send you a simple yet powerful writing prompt that will help peel back the layers of who you are.
Before we dive in, some biz:
WHERE TO WRITE: For this month’s prompts, this is up to you! You can handwrite in a journal then type it out (or take a picture of what you wrote!), put it in your Notes app, create a Google Doc, post on your own Substack, or [insert your preferred medium here]. Whatever you do, just write.
HOW TO SHARE: After you do the prompt, I encourage you to share it in the private Facebook group, which is for paid members only. Post a pic of your journal, link to a G Doc, or copy and paste it into a post or comment. Just share your writing! (Note: You can always share directly with me via email/replying to the prompt. Always.)
A SPECIAL INCENTIVE: If you complete and share every prompt this month, your name will be added to a drawing for complimentary coaching/editing on one of your February pieces.
OUR FIRST OPEN MIC: Let me know if Thursday, January 30 at 9:30am MST would work for the first virtual open mic call. (These will be chances to read what you’ve written and they’ll happen every month.) If most of you can’t make it, we can explore a weeknight or Saturday morning. (It will also be recorded!)
OK.
Ready to get started?!
