OK. So, I know school’s starting up and pumpkin spice is creeping in, but summer isn’t technically over until September 22, so let’s hang onto it a little longer, yeah?

But first, a little biz:

Weekly Writing Sprint

Let’s virtually gather for 10-15 minutes and do some writing this week, yeah? Meet me in my Zoom Room on Wednesday at 10 a.m. MDT.

Meeting ID: 425 166 5727
Passcode: speak

Next Speakeasy

The votes are in and Tuesday, Aug 26 is the winner! We’ll meet from 9-11 am MDT in my Zoom Room. If you didn’t receive the calendar invite, let me know! (Note: These calls are for paid members, but if you ever want to try one, just say the word!)

Meeting ID: 425 166 5727

Monthly Prizes

Let’s talk prizes. As most of you know, every month, those who made the prompt quota go into a drawing for a prize. But I’m starting to wonder…are they enticing? Or do we need better ones? Or more choices?

I’d love your thoughts! What would you be excited to win (or experience)? Hit reply and tell me. And if you don’t, I’ll assume August’s prize will be a rock from my driveway. Har!!

OK…

Here’s this week’s ditty:

✒️ How I Summer ✒️

Write a love letter to your personal summer aesthetic.

Step 1: Sit down with your comp or some paper.
Step 2: Set a timer for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Write a short love letter to the way you summer.

Maybe you’re a “lemonade and flip flops” summer.
A “windows down, sad girl music” summer.
A “reading under the fan with popsicle-stained fingers” summer.

Describe the colors, smells, and sounds of your season.
What’s the tiny ritual or moment that makes it yours?
Give us a scene that lets us feel the sun still warming your skin.

Step 4: Share in the Facebook group.

Option 2: Take your own adventure

As always, if something else is tugging at you, lean into THAT.

Have fun, good luck, and holler if you get stuck,
Brit
